Oakwood United Spring Season COVID-19 Update\Cancellation of the Spring 2020 season

Hello OUSC Families!

First and most importantly we hope that everyone is weathering this unprecedented event.

Second, due to many circumstances, we are cancelling all OUSC activities for Spring 2020.  This includes First Touch, Youth Academy, Select Team Soccer and all training.  It will likely be a few weeks before we have a plan in place for Select Team Soccer tryouts for the Fall 2020/Spring 2021 season, as well as small group Summer program options such as Street Soccer.  We’ll communicate details as soon as possible.  If we can safely provide structured options for kids and teams to begin spending time together on the pitch again soon, we’ll do our best to make it happen.

We are offering three options to families while we administratively close out this season:

Option A [CREDIT] – Default option: This is a pro-rated account credit for Spring 2020 which will be applied to Fall 2020 and/or Spring 2021 soccer programs.  Expect a follow-up email shortly detailing the credit amount.

Option B [REFUND]* – Issued upon request: Refunds will be issued in the form of an OUSC check or as a credit to your credit card.  We are still trying to work out the details of this option.  Expect a follow-up email detailing the refund amount.

Option C [DONATION] – Issued upon request: Taxable donation receipts will be issued via email.  We are a volunteer-run non-profit and sincerely appreciate any donations which can be allocated to our general use funds.  Expect a follow-up email detailing amount and a taxable donation receipt.

*U14 select teams: option is B or option C since these players are aging out of OUSC after this year.

The process:

  • Each family will receive an email detailing the pro-rated credit, refund or donation amount available to them based on OUSC calculations.  Expect an email in 3-4 days.
  • If Option A is acceptable there will be no actions required by you.
  • If Option B or C is of interest, please send an email to [email protected]
    • Change the email subject to “Option B or C – # of players – Last Name”
    • Example “Option C – 2 – Moulton”
  • If a family has multiple players and requests different options per player, send a single email with the subject “Multiple Options – last name” and detail the requests inside the email.
    • Example “Multiple Options – Moulton”

While we hope to expedite the process, we expect processing of our 300+ families will take approximately three weeks to complete.

Additional Q&A:

#1 – What happened to ‘other options’ like a shortened season or extended season into June?

While many options were considered, no option at this time looked viable.  Leagues have cancelled Spring and safety concerns are still very much in play as of today.

#2 - What about try-outs for next soccer year?

We still do not have an update on try-outs for next soccer season.  As soon as we gather that information we will relay asap and post to our website.  Try out dates are determined by OYSA, which has indicated the earliest is a June/July time frame (which may still change).

#3 – What about uniforms that were purchased but won’t be used?

We regret that uniforms purchased will not be utilized this Spring.  OUSC will not be able to assist in relief of this cost.

Please contact us for any additional questions or concerns.

Thank you for your patience during this difficult time.  For those kids who were not able to play in their last season, we sympathize with them and families.  For those kids who will return we look forward to seeing you at try outs and back on the fields in the Fall.

Best Regards,

OUSC Board of Directors
